The new Professional Editorial Standards introduces section A1, Editorial teams, for the first time. How do editors work with other editors? How should we work with each other? The Standards has categorized this as a Fundamental of Editing — meaning all professional editors should have an understanding of the expectations and etiquette around working with other editors. This includes editors who are
– contributing in different ways (e.g., contract, in-house)
– working with different titles (e.g., editor-in-chief, senior editor)
– editing at different stages (e.g., structural editing, stylistic editing)
– performing different editorial tasks (e.g., visual research, fact checking)
This webinar will review the five standards and expand on them, exploring realistic scenarios and proposing preventive strategies and solutions to issues that can arise.
